The majority of US companies investing in social media marketing (SMM) platforms report significant results including increased customer retention, improvements in customer acquisition, better retention rates and increased conversion.

But the truth of the matter is that only 13 percent of companies have actually invested in SMM tools.

This is a daunting statistic, especially considering that more and more customers today are digital-first, and when they want to connect with a brand they do so on social channels. In March 2017, Lithium commissioned Forrester Consulting to conduct a study of 100+ social media marketing professionals with responsibility for social media strategy and social media technology purchasing at US companies, including a mix of B2B and B2C brands. The goal was to find out just how many brands have actually invested in SMM, and of those brands, what sort of results are they seeing.
